  • OK, poetry hour is over   I'm back to my normal piss and vinegar self....all is well in the turtleshell! Damn Dr. Seuss.

Ok, so I'm reading White Oleander.  Let me just say that it's a good book, I want to continue reading it but I do have one complaint.  The 3rd foster home that Astrid ends up in is a pretty pathetic excuse for creativity.  I mean, come on Janet Fitch, you couldn't have come up with something original?  An old rich foreign widow who takes in girls so that she'll get the money (to remodel her house none the less) then starves them and makes them her slaves?!?!?! Give me a BREAK! (BTW, she's an interior designer, maybe that's why I'm so bitter? lol) Janet, dear, you were doing so well with the first two homes with Ray and then Olivia, now this?!
Maybe I just haven't gotten far enough into that particular part of the story but as soon as I read the first line of the first paragraph describing this new foster home, I already knew where it was going.  TOO PREDICTABLE!!!!  I was a little disappointed last night and finally put the book down and went to sleep at 3:20am.

I hate when books don't live up to my expectations...damn them.

I will be in need of new reading material soon.  I still have to finish the 'Left Behind' series, I'm almost done with those, thankfully.  The writing is pretty elementary but the whole concept is good, besides, I'm seriously eager to see how this guy writes the end of the world, it is SURE to be amusing...
But hard as hell to muddle through

The DH and I bought Scrabble and let me tell you, it is so nice to win game after game with huge scores such as 275-135 or 380-232.  Medicine is a great word when the last e ends on a triple word score and there are double & triple letter throughout.

This entry is reminding me more and more of a fucking Easter egg, I must stop with the snazzy colors......nahhhh fuck 'em I like snazz.

Go to my SIS' blog and send wonderful happy 'reuniting with Spankster' vibes, please? He's the coolest cat, even cooler than mine (and mine are pretty damn cool!)

'The Spankster' and his normal 'fuck off' glare

  • I've been wanting to read that book for a while now.  I keep dropping hints to the hubby that I would like a copy, but we're broke, so I probably won't get it unless it's a special occasion.  Here's hoping!

  • I'm reading White Oleander as well, but you are farther ahead than I am.  And you've ruined it for me, dammit! Just kidding. I'm enjoying the book so far, but what is with Fitch's excessive use of metaphors and similes?  Love your Halloween background, btw!

  • heard about that book, but haven't read it yet...i think i'll wait to hear what you have to say...:)

  • I remember you commenting once that you HAVEN'T read Harry Potter yet...READ THEM!  And then, there's always LOTR...been keeping me busy for a month now:)
