Boo Boo Rar!
That is what BT is chanting, right now. While LT acts scared. My children, entertaining themselves, ahhhhhhhhhh.
So I actually went out of my house (gasp!) and did errands today. First it was Toys R Us to get BT a Nintendo game for his Bday (with his gift card from FIL and SMIL). While we were there a little boy was playing one of BT's favorite games, on the demo display. The little boy was having a hard time on one of the boards that BT can complete in about 15sec. BT stood and watched for a little while then came up to me and asked if he could talk to the boy. (We have taught BT that if he ever wants to talk to someone he doesn't know, he should first ask us, kids and grown ups alike.) After I told him he could talk to the little boy he walked up and tapped the boy on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me, I use my tummy to get across that part, it's easier." The little boy just looked at him then went back to playing the game. I was SO PROUD of my kid for being so stinkin' polite. It was the best, I'm sure I beamed for the rest of our TRU experience!
I, on the other hand, was in utter Hell. All the public schools are out today so parents had just dropped their 7-12yr olds off at Toys R Us and the place was CRAWLING with rude, snotty, bratty little kids. And in the midst of it all my 5 yr old had better manners than any of those kids.....I love my kids!!!!!
Next, we went to PetSmart and bought way too much for all our pets, or maybe we just have too many gawd damn animals and we should have one or two for dinner, they're fucking EXPENSIVE!!!!! But hey, I really enjoy getting new toys for my aquariums and the dogs and cats seemed particularly happy that they now have food!
Last we went where all the rude fucks of the North Atlanta area go on a Friday afternoon....Publix. People were everywhere and they were all pissed at someone else around them. It was a big huge mess and I got to throw myself and 2 small children into the monkey shit called Publix.
After Publix, I just came home, I told BT that we might stop and get something to eat, but really I'm too tired to stop anywhere else and I had already spent more money than I should have. BUt damnit all to hell, my kid was N I C E to another kid who either A) Was shocked that a child of only 5 was actually SPEAKING to him; or B) Was just a rude little kid with no manners...ok, there could be a C) Was too shy to say anything but seriously, my kids at least SPEAK when spoken to.....but ya know, BT did sort of scare the kid off and he was able to play the demo thingy....hehehehe

Such a cute story! I hope my boy turns out all polite and stuff...
People don't teach manners anymore. I find it amusing that so many people say oh wow your children are so polite because they just answered that persons question with a "Yes Sir" or something. That is how I was raised. I have one acquaintance that said her children should not ever have to say Yes Mam No Mam Thank you please or excuse me unless they wanted to. Well I freakin hope my kids want too! It is called respect. Good for you for teaching your children manners and respect for other people. If more parents did that I might not dislike most children!
Josh says "hi" to kids all the time that ignore him-one kid actually snarled...to that one I actually said something, and then I mentioned that if he was rude to my son again I would speak to his mother about his lack of manners. He stays away from us now. (the kids were all playing with Josh's toys at the time, and I figure if you're gonna try and play at least say hi to the kid who owns the toy right???) Sorry. This was pretty long...

More props on teaching the kids manners!! I've finally drilled into my cousin after returning her kids to her with the oldest saying "please"...
And ALL Publix stores are moron magnets!! Never, ever go on free food day!! (I think it's Dec. 4th here...I didn't do it on purpose... *cringe)
It's nice to see that parents like you are teaching your children how to use manners. We need more of that in this day and age.
Excuse an ignorant Yankee, but what is Publix? Is it kind of like Sam's Club?
